…and Clinton has the audacity to say that the meltdown was because of the Republicans’ failure to regulate Fannie and Freddie? Republican’s only failed to pass the regulatory legislation because the democrats stopped the legislation…EVERY democratic senator voted against installing an oversight committee to investigate and scrutinize Fannie/Freddie. Dem’s need to get their act together. Quit lying. Act like American’s and not third-world leaders profiting off of corruption.

@xxxmailbin that is exactly right so why is that the media doesn’t cover that or bring it up when Obama and the rest of his crew blame everything on Pres Bush. I rarely even hear republicans on Fox News (supposedly pro right wing) bring that poinit up. Bush even tried to make strides in dealing with Social Security and immigration to no avail. I heard Obama talking about private ahccounts in Social Sec. and using other Bush ideas. For someone who bashes Bush why is he trying to use his ideas

  6. Hudd1950 says:

Those who will not listen and look (read) have brought us to the brink and now want to do more damage. Kick them the hell out of Washington… damn.

Bush asked for democrat support to tighten, Democrats controlled the entire financial system under Bush, Democrats control our financial system today.

Bottom line, Democrats refused to listen to the warnings from GOP and you expect them to fix this mess? Not one Democrat pushed to tighten. Democrat policies prior to Bush taking office caused this mess, reason for their non support.

GOP also tried to fix this mess under Clinton, Clinton admited on ABC.

This video says it’s from 2004. In 2004, Republicans controlled the House, the Senate and the White House. If Republicans NOW say they were warning us back then, why didn’t they just do something about it then? They had the power. Instead, they now try to blame the Democrats.

  20. fergiedurgish says:

All of these people who are beating up on the regulators are, if I am not mistaken, people of color — Why would black Dem Congressmen protect this THING – IT used PEOPLE to get votes by putting families at risk. Democrats placed poor minorities into houses they couldn’t afford and then set back and watched as these people’s credit was ruined, when the mortgage payments come due? Why would a political party do this? Unless of course it is because they hate minorities, especially black people.

@keggs1961 OBAMA is the corrupt system
i would like to see anyone BUT a LAWYER in the white house

  22. joe035 says:

@hackit12 The Republicans will have to do far better then McCain or Palin or we will continue to see the ills of incumbant democrats. I look forward to some new people unmotivated to be career politicians get in office come November.

@frattura30 contents of this video are edited & distorts facts of the testimony. The author could have showed the whole video, instead of snippets. I can take the “crooks” part from your previous post, add it to “stand behind MLK” & it changes the whole context of your post. Fan & Fred may have done dirt, but they didn’t cause this current crisis alone. yes, all sides had dirty hands. Republicans had 8 years to clean, but they hold shares in the success of corruption. Thank You for being civil.

  24. hackit12 says:

@joe035 -’I can name a million things accurately the Republicans have got right too’-

  25. keggs1961 says:

I would rather see US Taxpayers dealing directly with Fannie and Freddie… Cut out the middle man ( the Banks ) and the foreclosure problem would be over. Screw the Banks! They stand to profit more from foreclosure than they do from modifying loans. I hope Obama destroys this corrupt system before he is finished!!! Long live OBAMA!!!!!!!

Do you think the monetary system as it is today, is a positive constructive force, which is good for human welfare and development..?

We could have clean energy today based on Nikola Tesla inventions over hundreds years ago, but the oil companies biggest threat is clean, free and eternal energy…

We need a complete global system change!

  29. FaithfulAndTrue1 says:

If Nader doesn’t win the next election….. There will be blood.

  30. razerfish says:

Who are you talking to? Careful on calling out grammar violations (just what the net needs, another grammar Nazi) lest you want your remarks combed through for mistakes. I’ll assume you weren’t asking a question since you didn’t put a question mark behind your sentence and were just just making a snide remark.

  31. vanilli37 says:

Why don’t you use proper grammar and actually explain yourself before commenting.

  32. razerfish says:

He’s wrong. It’s easy money, not regulation. He doesn’t understand economics and he’s screw it up like Obama will. Roosevelt made the depression last longer.

  33. chocomeerkat says:

They are giving our money to corporations so they can make jobs for us to earn it back. And they are giving our money to banks so we can borrow it back with interest!!

if bailout money is created by the federal reserve it has interest thus creating more debt!

  38. crawfordviolin says:

    I’m voting Nader!!

  39. UnconcernedCitizen says:

I will contribute to the bailout fund if Henry (Hank) Paulson — U.S. Treasury Secretary, former Goldman Sachs CEO, and all-around bald guy ponies up the $200 million in capital gains tax he was exempt from having to pay. It seems Hank made a bundle from 2003 to 2006 and did not have to show Uncle Sam the money. I made around $17,776 during the same period and though I have already paid Uncle Sam, I would cough in a few more bucks if Hank throws up, err in, his $200 million.

thanx for the read more people should look this up

  41. clarityboy999 says:

laviliterthefirst; Hope that you can get ahold of New York Magazine issue dated 9/29/08; The Panic of 2008. It has a really clear and detailed explanation of the Wall Street CRASH and it’s ramafications for all of us in several well written articles. By the way, that explaination is quiet different from the one being sold by the popular press.
We actually should thank Nader for speaking out against government buyout. Too bad that his message isn’t getting out.

  42. laviliterthefirst says:

damn you said it what there doing with the bailout is more marxist then anything ive heard nader say

  43. clarityboy999 says:

juscurious…..You seem to be the only clown on this board! Did you even listen to what Nader said? Or are you just judging him by a label? Guess Socialism is ok for you when it’s used to bail out the reckless theaving banking system at tax payer expense. Why don’t you wait until your savings and 401K are wiped out before you make comments?

  44. fielsjd says:

Um, I was referring to your suggestion that everyone “vote Nader.” I did not represent any viewpoint, so you are wrong to have ascribed one to me.

  45. UR123GoFly says:

Message to Main Street America: How about Renting if you cannot afford to by ? How about cooking instead of filling up your cart with frozen dinners at $8 each ? How about saving up 5% of a down payment for a house (as it is still a requirement in Canada.. Listed as Best banking System in the World yesterday ).. How about saving up enough money so you can pay the mortgage and other expenses for 12 months (as being thought by most Economy 101 classes).. Blame others.. Yes, that is EASY..

  46. welpen2006 says:

Ralph Nader is right, don’t bail out the crooks and speculators of wall-street. But the average American. Let the banks go bankrupt! As well as AIG. Save GM!

  47. juscurious says:

    For all of you clowns posting;

    Ralph is an unreconstructed Marxist!

He is also a bag man for the trial lawyers. And Trial Lawyers are the scum of the earth!

    Look it up!

  48. hipmama715 says:

I have looked into Mr. Barr and was impressed with his party’s platform. I also consider myself to be an ardent Ron Paul supporter, so I understand where you’re coming from.

  49. vardisvs says:

Do you think Bush started this on his own? Your wrong, get your facts straight. It started in the Clinton era, and in fact, the democratic congress continued voting down regulation. And, yes if you want to blame me go ahead. I’ll take you on!

  50. fielsjd says:

I suppose I have you to thank for giving us 8 years of Bush.
