Robert Galinsky is the founder of this brand new (one-of-a-kind) school, “New York Reality TV School”. He is producer, performer and acting coach (at least that is what the website says), and the “New York Reality TV School” is supposed to give its students a advantage by training with Reality TV development, casting, producing and directing professionals ( students also entered into their exclusive casting database, which puts them in the front of the line for casting calls.)
To me this kind of defeats the purpose of “reality TV”, if the contestants are trained they are not real people that reality show are looking for. I wonder if this will backfire on the students that say they went to this school when auditioning. The casting people may feel the way that I do about “trained reality “contestants” would make a reality show not a reality show. It would be nice to see/hear from students of this school and about how it has helped or hurt them.

Sweet! My favorite peeping-ish Reality Show, Run’s House, will get a third season:
[MTV] has ordered eight episodes of “Run’s House” that will begin taping in September. The show features Rev Run (Joey Simmons) of Run DMC as he balances running a successful footwear company while raising five children, ages 9-23 — plus another one on the way.
What is the right word to describe the shows where there is no competition, just watching people live their lives?

You know the saying, right? It’s a phrase inspired by the Bible…which is probably why Rev. Run used it this week during his Reality TV show, Run’s House.
You see, a pet fish died. The Rev. decided it would be a good time to teach his 5-year old, Russy, about death. The Rev. gave “proper respect” to the dead fish then gave it a funeral.
But it was a fish. Run gave a great perspective on it: “Ashes to Ashes, Flush to Flush”. Bwahahahaha! Dude cracks me up!
This did, however, get Russy to wonder about death and meeting God. “Will I meet God when I die?” he asked his mom. “Yes, and maybe He’ll make you eat more than french fries and nuggets.”
I’m tellin’ ya, this show cracks me up! You’ve gotta catch Run’s House. Season 2 is airing on MTV new on Thursday nights, reruns all week. Check your local listings.

I had forgotten that there was a reality show coming out I had wanted to see. Only 6 episodes long, no wonder I missed it. But thanks to a serendipitous viewing and subsequent DVR setting, I’ve begun catching up on the season.
The show is about the home of one Joseph Simmons, his five kids, and his wife. But most know him as Rev Run, half of the best rap group ever, Run-DMC. The show is greatly titled Run’s House.
This show is hilarious! Here’s a dialogue with The Rev and his wife, Justine:
Justine: She [daughter Angela] needs to get a bathing suit. I don’t know what you want so you should go with her today and pick it out.
Run: I’ll do it for style’s purposes. I not going to worry about how revealing…I’ll get her something that’s hot.
Justine: Oh, like I wouldn’t get her nothing that’s not hot?
Run: No, I’m just saying I’m going to make sure she’s fly…that it works out.
Justine: I wouldn’t make sure she’s fly?
Run: I’m not…that’s not the point. I’ll go. That’s not the point. That’s not the point.
Justine: I know why you want to go. You should say, “Jus, you could go” but you’re not saying that because you think I would pick out something…
Run: Whack.
Justine: What?
Later Run takes a moment to teach his kids a little lesson: “Here’s how I look at it: Life gives to the giver and takes from the taker. Say that.”
Later his daughter, Angela, and her boyfriend, Junior, are in the kitchen when Run comes in.
Run: You play basketball?
Junior: Yeah.
Run: Why did you tell me he plays football? He don’t look like a football player to me…you look like a basketball player.
[…]
Angela: He played football too.
Run: But you’re 99 pounds with 7 rocks in your pocket. What are you going to do with your life? What do you know you’re going to do? Do you know something already? How old are you?
Junior: 20.
Run: What are you going to do?
Junior: Be successful.
Run: Be successful at what? You gotta have a plan.
Junior: At sneakers and clothes, stuff like that.
Run: Wow. That’s your passion. I can tell. You always fly. But she’s precious and special to me. For real. I just want you to keep your intentions very clear, very high note with her. Extremely high note. You ever heard someone scream so high that the windows break? That’s the note I want you to play.
The show is so successful that it’s been picked up for another season. So get caught up on Season 1 of Run’s House. Four of the six episodes will run Sunday morning starting at 7 AM on MTV so set your DVR.
As for how Rev Run looks at the spirituality for the show, he told AllHipHop.com:
My show is to preach by letting you look at my life on television. Look at the way I raised my kids, look at the way I treat my wife. That’s my ministry. Look at me on MTV and say ‘wow, I like this guy’. I don’t really give a big sermon on that show, but my life is a sermon.

There’s a whole lot of superstars in reality’s stage here tonight.
But I want ya’ll to know one thing: this is My House!
And when I say “who’s house”, ya’ll know what time it is…
Who’s house?
Runs house!
That’s right. He’s the King of Rock and there is none higher. Sucka MCs need to call him “Sire”. If you want to burn his kingdom you’re gonna have to use fire. He’s not going to stop rockin’ until he retires…
And he’s not retired yet!
Rev. Run of Run-DMC is back…and this time he’s got himself a Reality TV show. Sean “P. Diddy” Combs and Russell Simmons are producing the MTV show and should be coming out later this year.
I can’t wait!
Thanks to TV Squad for the tip.
