Robert Galinsky is the founder of this brand new (one-of-a-kind) school, “New York Reality TV School”. He is producer, performer and acting coach (at least that is what the website says), and the “New York Reality TV School” is supposed to give its students a advantage by training with Reality TV development, casting, producing and directing professionals ( students also entered into their exclusive casting database, which puts them in the front of the line for casting calls.)
To me this kind of defeats the purpose of “reality TV”, if the contestants are trained they are not real people that reality show are looking for. I wonder if this will backfire on the students that say they went to this school when auditioning. The casting people may feel the way that I do about “trained reality “contestants” would make a reality show not a reality show. It would be nice to see/hear from students of this school and about how it has helped or hurt them.

One of my favorite vodcasts about TV (okay, the only one about TV I follow) is Brigette Dale’s TV Squad Daily. Often she talks about Reality TV but obviously isn’t just tied to it.
I thought yesterday’s was particularly interesting, especially if you haven’t heard about what Ol’ Trump has been up to lately.

Derek Arteta was booted off of The Apprentice last week because he called himself “white trash”. In an interview with him after the show and as reality blurred reported,
…it’s unfortunate that his [Derek’s] conversation with Muna didn’t make it on the air. She told that despite her religiosity, she was fine with his sexual orientation, saying, “Derek, you know they actually kill guys in Jamaica; they beat them up for being gay.” … And she’s like, “I may catch some heat if they show you and I being terribly friendly with each other. … I’d love to do a PSA with you in Jamaica or something.” Derek says that Muna is “just such a beautiful person. She restored my faith in people of faith, to some extent. I have such an anti-organized religious bias because of all the stuff they spout off. But she restored my faith in Christian people.”
We need to know more like Muna.

Paste Magazine has this clever little section called “News We’re Ignoring.” Even though they dissed Chris Daughtry in that column, I still love the magazine and the concept. This is the first installment of what could become a regular feature here on RealityBlogs. This is our very own “News We’re Ignoring”:

You know what they say, “One man’s trash is another man’s treasure.” Well, in the case of this Ivanka Trump event in Charlotte, trash is just trash.
Wow, does the still frame on this video just say “Kiss me!” or what?! Hilarious.

I don’t know about you, but I’m personally pretty tired of celebrities that hog a lot of bandwidth with their self-promoting, snotty blather. The recent spat between Rosie O’Donnell and Donald Trump is a prime example of what gets my goat. Is it not obvious to everyone by this point that Trump was using the Miss America “controversy” to get some buzz for the new season of The Apprentice. For O’Donnell to point out the obvious, it only directs more media attention toward Trump and his fading Apprentice franchise, giving him yet another opportunity to say/do something ridiculous (like calling Rosie “fat” and “ugly” etc. etc. ad nauseum) thus garnering even more entertainment news headlines. Both of these people need to be demoted from their celebrity status. They are wasting it on totally on being stupid. Look at what Oprah and Bono do with their celebrity, and you can easily see the horrible disparity here. Who’s with me here? Let’s demote these numbskulls.

After Trump fired Carolyn, Microsoft hired her.
Former “Apprentice” star Carolyn Kepcher will help Microsoft find the best small-business idea in America.
Good on you, Carolyn. Maybe you can hire those Trump kids away from daddy.

Mark Burnett is not engaged to Farrah Fawcett, Kate Jackson, or Della Reese. No, the king of reality TV is set to premiere his latest reality project in 2007—marriage with Touched By An Angel star Roma Downey. The couple apparently started dating in 2004.
“I have found my angel,” Burnett said in a statement.
Both have children from previous marriages. Burnett has two sons, ages 13 and 9, and Downey has a 10-year-old daughter.
We wish you all the best, you crazy kids!

Bonk!
Carolyn Kepcher, the blonde co-star of Donald Trump’s ‘The Apprentice,’ has been fired.
The 36-year old sidekick, who in addition to her role on the show ran the Trump National Golf Club in posh Westchester County north of New York City, was fired earlier this week.
[…]
Trump’s daughter Ivanka has replaced Kepcher in the role [on ‘The Apprentice’], while Trump’s son Don Jr. is the successor to the 78-year old real estate lawyer George Ross on the show.
Bummer. I liked Carolyn…and was the only personality giving that show some “reality”, if you know what I mean. Ivanka did a fine job, but Carolyn she ain’t.
UPDATE: Carolyn says it was mutual, not a firing. Don’t all the break-up-ees always say that?
